| Professor Tatiana R. Volk was born in Moscow, Russia, on February 21, 1942. She received the Graduate degree from Moscow State University, Moscow, in 1965, and the Ph.D. degree from the Institute of Crystallography, Russian Academy of Science, Moskva, Russia, in 1972, and the Doctorate degree in 1993. She became a Professor in 2001. She is a Coauthor of the monograph T. Volk and M. Woehlecke, Lithium Niobate: Point Defects, Photorefraction and Ferroelectric Switching (New York, NY, USA: Springer-Verlag, 2008). Her fields of interests include material science, ferroelectricity, point defects, optical memory, and nonlinear optics. She is currently a Member of the European Steering Committee on Ferroelectricity.
